ERIE YACHT CLUB RACING FLEET’S

YACHTSWOMAN AWARD

PURPOSE

The Erie Yacht Club Racing Fleet is proud and excited to have established a sailing award presented to encourage and promote Women’s racing. The award annually recognizing a female racing sailor who has participated in Erie Yacht Club Racing Fleet in the current racing season as well as in the past. The candidate must have demonstrated excellent racing knowledge and skills locally and beyond the shores of Presque Isle Bay serving as a Corinthian representative of the Erie Yacht Club Racing Fleet.

THE AWARD:

The permanent award is a beautiful ornate 15” crystal loving cup etched with both the Erie Yacht Club's and the Racing Fleet's logos. The cup is seated on a solid oak base inscribe with the year and awardees name and participating yacht. This prestigious award is permanently displayed in the Erie Yacht Club's trophy case with a similar smaller keeper award retained by the winner.

KEEPER AWARD:

The annual recipient will be presented with a keeper award engraved with the year, awardees name. The cost of the award and engraving will be borne by the EYCRF.

SELECTION PROCESS:

The selection committee shall deliberate on approximately October 1 or 30 days before the fleet banquet of each year to nominate and select an appropriate candidate as the award recipient. In the event that there are no qualified nominees in the opinion of the selection committee, then the award need not be presented in that year.

NOMINATIONS:

Nominations must be submitted in writing to the selection committee chair (HERE) including a complete profile of the nominee prior to October 1 or 30 days before the scheduled fleet banquet to allow time to make the selection, acquire and engrave the awards. The nomination document must include racing experiences showing in detail those accomplishments which make the nominee worthy of the award. It is best to include boat names, events and dates including those beyond Presque Isle Bay. Include stories and/or events that emphasize the experiences of the nominee both on & off the water. In the submission present reasons why the nominee displays the ideals of EYC Yachtswoman: positive attitude, competitive spirit, confidence, sailing knowledge/skills, and motivated supportive qualities.
