Visiting Reciprocal Clubs
Reciprocity - Defined: "The state of being reciprocal; mutual dependence, co-operation, exchange of courtesies or return in kind, etc. The policy under which special advantages are granted by one side in consideration of same by the other."
Members of the Erie Yacht Club are able to visit Reciprocal Yacht Clubs through the US, as well as some clubs in Canada. Our office can provide Reciprocity Letters for our members or send them directly to the clubs you are visiting on your behalf. The EYC is a member of the “Yachting Club of America," which was founded in 1963 and known as “The National Association of Yacht Clubs.”
To find out what Yacht Clubs participate in Reciprocity, please visit the Yachting Clubs of America web site to find approved clubs in the areas to which you are traveling.
As always, please call the Club you plan to visit ahead of time to ask about their reciprocity, including any Club rules to know ahead of time, whether to make a reservation, about visiting dockage availability, and more. Some Yacht Clubs may want our office to reach out with a Reciprocity letter on your behalf.
Please reach out to our Clubhouse Office in advance to receive a physical or digital copy of your Reciprocity letter with your Member # and years of Good Standing or other required documentation.
Reciprocity Guide - Online Directory for Members Only
Since the Yachting Club of America is a membership organization, which the EYC is a member of, there is an online directory that is available for our members. To access the online directory for the Yachting Clubs of America, you must go through the “Members Only” section, which requires a specific USER ID & Password for the EYC. Please reach out to our Membership Director to receive the EYC’s user ID & password by emailing - membership@erieyachtclub.org or calling our office at (814) 453-4931 ext. 210.
We do have a physical copy of the Directory & Reciprocity Guide in our Clubhouse office to look over. You can also purchase your own on the YCA’s website!
