Cruising Fleet

Thank you for visiting the web page of the Erie Yacht Club Cruising Fleet. If you are a current member welcome back and please check out our planned boating and social activities. If you are not a member of the Cruising Fleet, let us tell you about ourselves to see if you might be interested in joining us.

Organized in the winter of 2016, we are a friendly group of individuals who enjoy being on the water for a day, an evening, a weekend, or longer cruise, or a social get together on the shore.

Our goal is to provide a positive experience of camaraderie among new and seasoned members through social and cruising activities. Although many members have a boat, mostly power, it is not a prerequisite to being a member of the Cruising Fleet. Our activities consist of both local and long-distance rendezvous that will include picnics, raft-ups, day trips and weekend trips. We may plan a themed cruise, a boat-a-cade to local or near-by restaurants for dinner, a raft up at Marina Lake or 8 Great Tuesdays or a Beach Day at one of our beautiful Presque Isle beaches. Participation in other Club events such as the Frolic on the Bay and the Charity Regatta are also encouraged.

All are invited to join the fun. If you have not cruised before, this group is for you. You will be able to learn from experienced cruisers what’s important to plan for a safe trip for you and your crew. We are well on our way to a fun and exciting boating summer! This is our seventh year....and counting! Come join the fun!

Participation Fee:

The Erie Yacht Club Bridge and Board generously underwrites the activities of the EYC Cruising Fleet, in addition, we collect an annual Participation Fee of $50 for first year Cruisers and $35 for renewals. Checks made out to “EYC CRUISING FLEET” (not EYC) can be dropped at the EYC Club Office, Attention Dave Wagner, with a note stating that it is for EYC Cruising Fleet. Leave your name, phone, and email, too so we can add you to our notices of activities. Any EYC member can attend EYC Cruising Fleet events, but the Fee must be current in order to travel with the Fleet. The Fleet uses these funds to provide complimentary appetizers and snacks at various parties and Fleet gatherings and always hosts a Fleet sponsored Happy Hour upon arrival at a cruising destination. Paid members always receive a discount on costs of various Cruiser events such as picnics and parties.

TIME to START CRUISING - SUMMER OF 2023

Season Kick-Off Picnic:
The beautiful setting of the EYC Picnic Shelter...this is where we held our very first event in the summer of 2016 and this is where we kicked off our seventh season of fun on June 6, 2023. The skies were a bit hazy because of smoke from the Canadian fires, but the Fleet's complimentary Presque Isle Punch made up for the somewhat muted sunset. Over 40 Cruisers gathered to reconnect and plan our adventures for the summer of 2023. We renewed our old friendships, welcomed some new Cruising Fleet members, talked about our boats and where we want to go this summer and what we want to do. And oh, and we ate and drank...like we always do! A great start to the new boating season.
