Adult Sailing Course Description

Sailing is a lifetime sport. You are never too old to start, or old enough to stop; sailing is a sport to be enjoyed throughout life.


Adult Learn to Sail
8-week course (Monday evenings)
June 10 - July 29 - 6pm-Sundown

Class Size: 24
Cost: $350
The Erie Yacht Club Adult Sailing Program combines dockside instruction and on-the-water learning within a framework of a fun and social setting. The curriculum focuses on the theory of sailing, terminology, rigging and de-rigging, knots, safety on the dock and on the water, points of sail, small boat handling, right-of-way rules, capsize and man overboard procedures, and teamwork. Tuition includes a US Sailing Textbook. Classes are taught aboard J/22s and Club 420s.

Adult J/22 Performance Sailing
8-week course (Wednesday evenings)
June 12 - July 31 6pm-Sundown

Class Size: 12
Cost: $350
This course is designed for those who have some sailing experience or who have completed the Adult Learn to Sail class. More advanced tactical and racing strategies will be offered along with a US Sailing textbook.
