Thank you for visiting the web page of the Erie Yacht Club Cruising Fleet. If you are a current member welcome back and please check out our planned boating and social activities. If you are not a member of the Cruising Fleet, let us tell you about ourselves to see if you might be interested in joining us.
Organized in the winter of 2016, we are a friendly group of individuals that enjoy being on the water for a weekend or longer cruise, or a social get together on the shore. Our goal is to provide a positive experience of camaraderie among new and seasoned members in social and cruising activities. Although many members have a boat, power or sail, it is not a perquisite to be a member of the cruising fleet. Our cruises will consist of both local and long distance rendezvous that will include; picnics, raft-ups, day trips and weekend trips. We may plan a theme cruise, a flotilla to local restaurants for dinner, a raft up at 8 Great Tuesdays or Beach 10 or 11. Participation in other Club events such as the Bay Swim, Frolic on the Bay and the Charity Regatta are also planned.
All are invited to join the fun. If you have not cruised before, this group is for you. You will be able to learn from experienced cruisers and learn what’s important to plan for a safe trip for you and your crew. We are well on our way to a fun and exciting boating summer!

- 2017 began with a great Kick-off picnic on the Club deck and wrapped up at the end of November with a festive Holiday Cocktail Party. In between there was a dinner cruise to Noosa Restaurant at the North East Marina, Memorial and Labor Day raft-offs, trips planned for Geneva, OH, Conneaut, OH and Port Dover Canada which sadly did not go due to small craft advisories! The Geneva trip became a car excursion for all but three boats, but those who made the trek by land or by sea enjoyed touring wineries and a lake-view dinner. Two brave souls biked to the Breakwall BBQ in Conneaut, OH and were met by the would be boaters for a fun lunch. The OK-CHILI-FEST Chili cook-off at the beautiful Rickloff Boathouse was a great way to enjoy a beautiful autumn evening. Everyone ended the season with high hopes for good boating weather in 2018. We shall see....

APRIL-April 12th Cruising Planning Meeting, hosted by Dianne and Bob Cunningham. Special guest, P/C Gib Loesel presented old photographs of “Venetian Night” from the ‘70s. This entertaining presentation complete with the photos included a discussion about the event last held in 1976. Boaters decorated their vessels around a certain theme (the last event was a 70s TV show theme). Guests were invited to tour the boats, and cocktail and hors d’oeuvres stations were situated about the grounds. The evening included music and dancing as well. There was interest in reviving this event, possibly in late June, and a follow-up meeting and discussions with Club Management will follow. Other highlights of the meeting included discussion about the upcoming picnic on May 17, the Raft-off on May 27th and various other boat trips throughout the season.
